Hey friends!!! J I am going to cook a very simple dish today…its aloo matar J I know, I know, I know many diet conscious people won’t want to eat it because it contains potatoes :P but I have included soya beans in it which has high amount of proteins in it which is very good for health and its tasty also J here we go…..

Aloo Matar



Preparation time: 10-15 mins
Cooking time: 8-10 mins
Serves: 5-6 people


INGREDIENTS:


  1. 2tbsp Oil (tel)
  2. 1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
  3. 1 Onion (pyaz)
  4. 2 Tomatoes (tamatar)
  5. 5-6 Garlic Cloves (lahsun)
  6. 1 inch Ginger (adrak)
  7. 2 Green chilies (hari mirch)
  8. 1 cup Green peas (matar)
  9. 2 potatoes (aloo)
  10. 50 grams or 8-10 balls of soya bean (bhatma)---optional
  11. Salt (namak) to taste
  12. ½ tsp red chili powder (lal mirch)
  13. ½ tsp turmeric (haldi)
  14. 1 tsp coriander powder (dhania powder)
  15. 2 cups water
  16. Coriander to garnish





METHOD:
Preparation before cooking

  1. Grind together and make a paste of onion and garlic cloves.
  2. Grind together and make a paste of ginger and green chili.
  3. Grind and make puree of tomatoes.
  4. Peel and cut the potatoes in small cubes. Put it in a bowl of water so that the potatoes do not turn black.
  5. Put green peas and soya bean in the same bowl of water along with potatoes.


During cooking

  1. Now heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  3. Add onion & garlic paste and fry it till becomes golden brown.
  4. Add tomato puree and let it cook till it leaves its sides.
  5. Add salt, chili powder, turmeric and coriander powder and mix well.
  6. Now add green peas, potatoes and soya bean (optional) and mix well.
  7. Cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Add water and close the pressure cooker with its lid.
  9. Cook till you hear 1 whistle from pressure cooker.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with hot rotis J
